Hannes Cullum is a Director of Photography based in Zurich.
He completed his Master’s degree in Cinematography at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) in 2022.
As a film fan who grew up in the countryside, he is especially interested in films that explore themes of identity, origin, and heritage — and more generally in cinema rooted in interesting and profound characters.
Photography and painting are among his greatest inspirations; the light of everyday life, as well as the search for a good story, are his main driving forces.
In 2025 "And The Wind Weeps" was nominated for the Prix du Cinema Suisse as Best Graduation Film
In 2023 His work on Myosotis was nominated for the German Camera Price in the section young talent award
Experimenting with and mastering different formats is one of Hannes main goals, as seen in "Si Në Vaj", in which the camera captured the film in vertical anamorphic to give characters space even in the tightest locations. From designing and building his own lenses to working across diverse formats and camera systems, he shapes a unique visual character for every project.
In 2021 he had the honor for being selected at the 29th edition of EnergaCAMERIMAGE International Film Festival in the Film and Art School Etudes Competition
